High Peak Holidays Motorhome Hire

Frequently asked questions.

Is everything included in the price?

Yes, the price you see is the price you pay. We include all your bedding, towels, and a 6kg gas bottle.  We don't charge extra for bike racks, outdoor chairs, or an additional driver.

Is there a mileage limit?

Our generous mileage allowance of 150 miles per day of hire won't see you short.  A ten-day hire will give you enough allowance for the NC500, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the views and get a real taste of Scotland.

Is there a minimum hire period?

We have a three-day minimum hire period except in July and August, when it is seven days.  We sometimes get short breaks available during the summer; you will find them on the availability calendar if they become available.

What time can I collect and return my van?

We start collections at 08:30 and operate hourly slots throughout the day, with the last collection at 17:30.

All vans must be returned by 10:30 on the final day of hire, and we recommend staying within an hour of Buxton to avoid rushing.

Can we bring the dogs?

Yes, absolutely.  It's a maximum of two per van, and we ask that all paws stay on the floor, being mindful that the seats make up the extra beds for other guests.

We keep one van dog free, although all the vans are cleaned thoroughly between hires.

We are thinking of going to Europe, is that okay?

Unfortunately, we have to say no.   We have a small fleet, and any hold-up reentering the country has the potential to impact another person's holiday, so we are UK hire only.

I haven't done this before. How will I know what to do?

When you come to collect your van, Leigh will walk you around your van, showing you where everything is and how it all works.  Once on board, you will find detailed instructions with colour photos to refer back to, and 24-hour telephone support is available while you are away.

Will I lose all of my damage deposit if something gets broken?

We know accidents happen. Let us know as soon as you can, and we'll do our best to repair all minor damage as affordably as possible.  We do as many repairs in-house as possible and will inform you of any costs involved ASAP.

Fully comprehensive insurance is included as standard to cover you in the event of an accident, and we'll do everything we can to support you.

Do I need breakdown cover?

We've got you covered, all our vans have RAC cover in place, and Mark is always happy to answer any queries about the mechanical side.

Can I drive the van if I only have a standard car licence?

Yes, all our vans are under 3.5 tonnes and can be driven on a standard licence.  It is your responsibility to judge your own ability and confidence in driving a large vehicle and it may be appropriate for you to choose a slightly smaller van for your first trip out.  We are, of course, on hand to provide guidance and advice if needed.  We want your holiday to be as stress-free as possible.
